How To Rent A Luxury Apartment With Poor Credit

Have you always wanted to live a luxury apartment? You don't have to give up on this idea just because of credit issues. You can rent a luxury apartment even if you have a low credit score.

With that said, renting a luxury apartment may not be easy for you. Here are a few of the things you'll have to do if you want to secure your apartment.

Work To Improve Your Credit

Before you submit your application for an apartment, try to improve your credit score as much as you can. While you may not be able to change your credit score dramatically, there is a good chance that you will be able to bring it up by a few points.

Request a copy of your credit reports. Get a report from all three bureaus; you never know which report a rental agency will pull. If there are discrepancies on any of the reports, fix them. You should see your credit score rise.

Be Upfront About Your Problems

You shouldn't try to hide your credit issues. Since you are authorizing the apartment company to access your credit report, they are going to be able to see any issues that you have. Be honest about these problems so that you can come to a compromise.

Apartment management companies are willing to work with people that have bad credit issues. However, you need to tell them what those issues are. Make sure they know what is going on with your credit.

Offer A Large Deposit

When you rent a new place, you are usually asked to put down some sort of security deposit. In the majority of cases, the deposit is fairly small. It's common to see places request the first month's rent from you.

Instead of paying the standard deposit, you should offer a much larger deposit. If you are able to pay six month's rent in advance, for example, you will be able to secure an apartment even if you have credit problems. The rental company will see that you aren't a major risk.

Provide Other Information

Credit isn't the only thing a company is going to look at when they decide whether or not they should give you an apartment. They will also look at your references, your work history, and a number of other factors.

If you are able to provide strong evidence that you are an excellent tenant, they may be willing to overlook your credit problems. You should try to demonstrate that you will always pay your rent on time.

Your poor credit doesn't have to keep you from renting a luxury apartment. It's possible to move into a luxury apartment even if your credit is in very bad shape.

Try out the tips listed above and see if they help. If these suggestions don't work, see if you can find someone that will cosign on an apartment for you. You have plenty of options, and you should explore them before you give up.
