There is always something fun to do in Wauwatosa, and it is only a short 15-minute drive from Milwaukee. Nearly everyone enjoys the fall. The stifling heat has gone as we head into the cooler months, and the bone-chilling winds have not yet arrived, while the suburbs are always filled with various fun activities. Below are some of the highlights on what to do in Wauwatosa this October.

The Holiday Bazaar

On October 12 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. there is a Holiday Bazaar on at the Luther Manor's Faith and Education Center (4545 N. 92nd St.). Here you will find beautiful handcrafted items created by volunteers and the residents, which are either for purchase or for viewing. The Bazaar items include ornaments, quilts, jewelry, scarves, along with bakery items and the highly popular bean-soup mix. The proceeds from these sales benefit the Luther Manor services and programs.

Boo At The Zoo

On October 12 and 13, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Zoo will be hosting a Halloween themed event. There are a host of family-friendly activities to enjoy which include a Halloween Haystack Maze, made out of haystacks, along with Halloween characters at the Otto Borchert Family Special Exhibits Building. Visitors can also enjoy riding on the "North Shore Bank Safari Train" which will be known as the Raven's Rail for the purpose of the event, where visitors get to ride all over the Zoo from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Some of the other activities on offer include a dancing-light show, Halloween treats and Halloween temporary tattoos.

The Fall Fest At Center Street Park

From 2.30 p.m. event goers will congregate for the event known as "Pumpkin Chuckin" which is a smashing hit which has returned this year. Live music will start at noon and again at 3:00 p.m.

Trunk Or Treat

The Wauwatosa Recreation Department is hosting its 3rd annual Trunk or Treat event on the October 20 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. This event includes participants that decorate the backs of their trunks with family-appropriate themes and costumes. You are also encouraged to bring along your own Halloween candy that you can give out to visitors that come past to view your decked-out trunk.

If you are not interested in participating in the actual event, you can still enjoy the day with your kids, where they can trick or treat in a safe environment when walking past all the trunks of cars on display. There will also be activities dedicated to children available on the day. This is a free event, but visitors are asked to bring non-perishable donations which will be given to the Tosa Cares Food Pantry.
