Throwing A New Year's Eve Party In Your Apartment

New Year's Eve is an occasion when people let go all of their baggage from the past 365 days and look forward to a happy time in the coming year. In order to celebrate this, it is common to invite your friends over and have a party. If you live in an apartment and you want to throw the best party ever, here are some DOs and DON'Ts you should keep in mind.

DO talk to your neighbors to let them know you will be having a party. While you are an adult and you probably feel like this is akin to asking someone for permission, it is all about respecting those who live around you. By giving them the heads up about your party plans, it will give them time to make other plans if they do not want to be disturbed by the festivities. It will also prevent people from calling the police if things get loud since the noise was expected.

DON'T invite far too many people. The thing about many apartments is that there is a lack of space. If people are not able to roam around and mingle freely, it will put a damper on the entire evening. Consider the amount of space you have when trying to decide who to invite. If you are really limited, focus on those who mean the most to you instead of randomly inviting every single person that you know.

DO plan ahead and have designated drivers available for those who will be drinking. Smaller apartments will not be able to accommodate overnight guests in abundance, so you will have to worry about how everyone will get home. You should have some people over who do not drink so that those who overindulge will have a way to get home. If you cannot find anyone to fill this position, you should have taxi numbers and the Uber or Lyft apps available.

DON'T forget to keep the TV on. While most parties do not have the TV involved, you should make it a point to keep one or more on at this time. You are celebrating the new year, and it is essential that you are able to see the ball drop. Even if you countdown on your own, there is nothing like watching that moment with people from all over the nation.

DO buy plenty of food, even if your guest list does not seem extensive. One thing that can ruin a party really quickly is running out of things for people to eat. In some cases, this can signal the end of the party. You may be afraid of buying too much, but having leftover munchies is far better than having hungry people at your get together.

Throwing a party is not the hardest thing in the world, but there are some things that can make the evening better than ever. Keep all of these pointers in mind the next time you plan to have a New Year's Eve party at your apartment.
